Slammed Spider

Slammed Spider

Up a nodge by going low

This episode is about a very special one-off slammed Spider. Produced from 1993 to 2004, the Alfa Romeo Spider Tipo-916 earned several design and engineering accolades, including "Car of the year”, “Best Designed Car" and "World's Most Beautiful Automobile". Yet still, the proud owner of this Dutch registered ’98 phase 2 series even managed to turn it up a nodge. And by UP we actually mean DOWN..

Grinds air suspension

Painted in vibrant Rosso Alfa, this Spider is rocking a fully adjustable air ride system by Grinds (Germany). Air-ride systems allow drivers to control their vehicle’s height with the push of a button—lower it for that aggressive stance or raise it for everyday drivability. When it comes to personalized car suspension systems, Grinds creates quite the buzz. Known for their precision-engineered air-ride setups, Grinds delivers a ride that's not only fully adjustable but also unmistakably smooth. The ultra-low stance of this Alfa Spider combined with the killer (stretch tyre!) Monoblock wheels and twin exhaust system attracts lots of admiring glances.

Raid steering wheel

Of course for a sensational build like this, all essential eye candy has to be in check. To elevate the interior of the car we were asked to source the owner a stylish, period correct wooden steering wheel. Made in Italy, in the correct size to avoid compromising the handling of the car, including a hub adapter and horn push: Our dark mahogany Raid 1 series with black anodised spokes ticked every box.

The slammed Alfa is a regular attendee at car shows and invitation-only meet ups, local and abroad. Would you like to check this car out in person? Then follow its journey and whereabouts on Instagram - @alfa_spidair - and keep up with the latest.

Our special thanks go out to the proud passionate owner of this car for showcasing his ride and taking us on a nice long drive down the coast for an exclusive photoshoot and video profile (coming up). Grazie mille, Jordy! 🏁
