100 years of motoring history in Automuseum Schagen
If you’ve got petrol running through your veins and a soft spot for classic cars and bikes, Automuseum Schagen deserves a spot on your weekend drive list. Tucked away in the heart of North Holland, this volunteer-run museum is a love letter to over a century of automotive history.

Inside, you’ll find a varied collection that spans nearly 100 years of motoring. From elegant pre-war tourers and chrome-laden cruisers of the ’50s, to the boxy icons of the 1980s and everything in between. Every car has a story and the volunteers, true enthusiasts only, are eager to share them.

Take the scenic route
Getting there is already half the fun. Instead of following boring satnav directions, take the scenic route along the Westfriese Omringdijk. This historic ring dike winds through some of the most beautiful countryside in the Netherlands, offering sweeping views, perfect cambered tarmac and enough bends to make you appreciate a well-balanced chassis. It’s one of those roads that reminds you why we love driving in the first place.

New friends are made easily
When you arrive, the atmosphere at Automuseum Schagen feels like a gathering of friends instead of a formal exhibition. You can wander among the cars and automobilia collectables at your own pace, chat with the volunteers, drink some coffee and catch up on your knowledge in the classic car library section. Just soak in the stories of a century on wheels and the smell of old engines and leather interiors...this highly likeable place will hit you in the heart.

So fire up your classic and set a course for Schagen. Take the historic Omringdijk and spend your Sunday afternoon filled with automotive passion. 🏁
